Well I have started to migrate over to the new back-end server I spoke of late last year. We are moving from our old box which ran a AMD Sempron 3000+ with 1GB RAM and 2 x 250GB SATA's in a RAID1 (Software RAID) to a new HP DL380 Dual 2.8GHz Xeon, with 3GB ECC RAM, 2 x 36GB 15K HDD's for the Debian OS and 2 x 36GB 10K HDD's for our VMware. This will be followed up with probably 2 x 146GB HDD's for mp3 storage and similar, need to purchase these still.
I have built up the box, installed the OS, setup the hardware RAID's configured everything up and some of you may have noticed a brief period of downtime during the migration. Everything is up and running for the most part, there is one problem with the host OS configuration might need a kernel recompile however manually loading a module has fixed the issue for now. I'll work on this when I have some time and the servers are not being utilized heavily.
All in all this will be better redundancy for our back-end server and will allow us to run more services in the future if we decide to expand.
I have yet to move the IRC bot.
