We have just implemented MySQL replication from our back-end server to our web server which should greatly improve the speed.
The "Currently Playing" page as well as the "Playlist & Request" page should be MUCH faster as it now queries locally. We'll monitor this over the next couple of months to check stability etc and hopefully this should prove another great addition to the network.
